I’m glad you’re home safe. As for why there isn’t wall-to-wall coverage of this… am I cynical if I say it’s because the American media has abandoned Jews? How many fictional stories have been created (or conflated) to vilify Jews over the last 621 days, and how many true stories haven’t been told? I’m sorry you - and the rest of the Americans who want to go home - had to deal with this.

The media has provided wall-to-wall and ceiling-to-floor coverage of the situation in Israel, beginning on October 7. Why do you assume that all visitors in Israel are Jews, and why do you assume that by not focusing on that secondary (sorry, Julie, but it's a fact) aspect, that somehow it's an anti-Semitic conspiracy?

More than somewhat ironic, since for years--decades? centuries?--the right-wing untjobs have been blaming the "Jewish-controlled media" for everything!

Point taken, excellent article. But China never has been and never will be the "world’s rising superpower".

As the old saying goes the fish rots from the head. Look at who the head is of this insane and incompetent administration. Trump jumps from one disjointed plan to the next. Even if all these totally unqualified people he’s put in his administration were the world’s best who can keep up with it all? I doubt it’s even entered Trump’s mind to evacuate American citizens from a war zone. He’s much too busy droning on and on while workers wait to put up an obscenely large flag on the White House grounds. He’s too busy throwing bluster around about invading Iran and killing their supreme leader. He can’t be bothered with something as mundane as rescuing Americans from Israel. Julie, I really hope you have the opportunity to be on one of the cable shows to tell your story of getting out of Israel without our government’s help. The public needs to know as bad as it is living in our country these days traveling outside of it means you’re on your own.

His latest pronouncement says it all:

"Nobody knows what I'm going to do with Iran."

Including HIM!

Truer words were never said, Kenneth. He flys blind daily and the rest of us forced to go along for the ride.

Wait until the hurricanes hit. In Kentucky FEMA has not distributed money for the flooding because Trump has not made a declaration of governmental assistance. These floods were in April. Trump will not even make the declaration for a red state.

Absolutely right! This is how his insane cult following can begin to erode. It's one thing to blindly worship someone who is having mothers and fathers arrested and deported, since that doesn't affect them. Once those same troglodytes begin to notice that they are getting zero assistance from FEMA, and assuming that their gutless governors have the courage to tell the truth about why, their adulation may slacken.

Even the most MAGA Congressman has to be smart enough to realize that if his constituents are living with the same damage a year from now, reelection just might not be that "glass of water" it usually is.

You are correct about the damage already done, and potentially to result from, the almost total dismantling of basic governmental operations. However, as Emperor Claudius once observed:

Let all the poisons that lurk in the mud hatch out.

In other words, given the total stubbornness and lack of intelligence of this president, and the complete adoration by his MAGAniacs, it seems that things will have to hit absolute rock bottom before anybody in any semblance of authority--hint: Congress--even begins to think about doing anything.

What could help this plummet to the bottom are two things:

1. NASCAR races are terminated on an emergency basis since the parts are needed for the "war effort."

2. Country music is banned because somebody thinks that Iran is embedding encrypted messages encouraging undocumented immigrants to rise up and revolt.

You are so right about the corporate media not covering this. Just another example of gross negligence and incompetence from the know nothing, non-caring, narcissistic, grifting Talibangelical administration. As long as they are safe and wealthy that's all that matters.

If they can do this to American citizens you have to think What regard do they have or will have for their military forces?

First of all, Julie I’m glad you’re back and posting. 🩵

People may think he’s become demented, so what if he dropped some papers, he still has the ability to make critical decisions, however irrational and destructive they may be. His actions are very pathological, but he doesn’t have a strategy. He’s acting on fears created during his childhood, he always has.

He has no ability to self reflect, he’s absolutely unaware of self and yet Putin sees him very clearly.

Trump doesn’t know that Putin sees it. Putin knows that Trump doesn’t know he sees it. And Putin plays a much better game of chess. But Putin I think is about to fall. And I think Ukraine has a momentary breather.

I’m very glad the Birthright kids are safe. But. Why is my state (Florida) using state $$$ for this purpose? Everything DeathSantis does is performative. Believe me, the dude doesn’t care about people.
