You are being punished because you do not have the ability to invest in Trump's crypto scheme. For those who can afford to throw money his way, the outlook appears much brighter.
A meme is "... a cryptocurrency with little to no value, authenticity, or utility?" Does this mean that, when the world FINALLY ousts this dude and his minions (including his family) and seize his assets to repair, reimburse and rebuild our country, $Trump and $Melania memes will actually have zero value outside of what investors have paid for them? 'guess we'll take what we can get. This will include all of his properties and that ugly-ass toupee he wears. We can burn it and his Tesla car at the first meaningful military parade held in celebration of his ouster.
Unlike Duke and Duke in "Trading Places," government does not "seize" assets. In particular, since SCOTUS has ruled that presidents have virtually unlimited immunity for actions taken while performing the office, any repair or rebuilding will have to come from the 145% income tax that D's will impose on everyone earning over some as-yet undetermined amount.
I was sort of speaking hyperbolically. I think Americans, en masse, would not want to revisit a time when IRS seized assets for back taxes. That's a horrible chapter in our history! BUT, yes, I do see an America where tRump and Musk's assets are seized. Maybe there's a better solution. I'm open to more palatable (realistic?) alternatives. ... No matter how this disaster that is tRump 2.0 unfolds, we will have to repair and rebuild and those who have wrought this destruction should pay for the damage done. It's a pipe dream. But their sins are so egregious, I am willing to entertain some iteration of reparations paid by the parties who are responsible for the damage done. ... And, yes, the wealthy and corporations ABSOLUTELY should pay their fair share of taxes.
Once again, it seems that Chucky is trying to "negotiate" with the R's on a bill that the Crypto Crooks strongly back; enough said on the merits of that bill! Not a single D should back any bill unless it specifically includes strong, INDEPENDENT control by some agency not subject to the whims and tantrums of Rump.
I'm not a particular fan of Schiff. He doesn't have nearly enough seniority in the Senate, but even he would be preferable to Schumer as the D leader.
I don’t pretend to understand crypto currency other than to know if Trump is involved it’s yet another grift. The man is a career criminal for God’s sake. All the more reason why it boggles the mind the Supreme Court decided he can’t be charged with crimes. What a monumental mistake it was to give him the green light to commit even more crimes. You can be sure he’ll cash out before loosing anything while the other fat cats get left holding the bag. F them is my attitude. The rest of us will be struggling to afford one doll at Christmas if any can be found. My only consolation is if he thinks his approval rating is low now wait until we’re searching high and low for everyday goods and see how low they go.
Anything is possible but I tend to think no on the insurrection act or suspending the constitution at least not anytime soon. It’s important that we stay aware of possible worst case scenarios but not accept them all as givens. As cowardly as the republicans are I don’t see them doing nothing if Trump went that far. The American public for sure wouldn’t.
I'm not sure he cares about his approval ratings anymore. I believe they are planning to invoke the Insurrection Act at some point and suspend the Constitution. They already feel they don't have to abide by it. As long as he can keep this band of cowardly republicans in line, he's safe and I don't see any evidence of them suddenly growing a spine.
While I'm not a lawyer (at least one positive for me), I see nothing in any searches concerning the Act that authorizes a president to "suspend" the Constitution. It gives a president the authority to deploy the military, chiefly the National Guard, within the US. The question would be, of course, what would the military and the judiciary do if tRump did attempt to assume total control. Unless one has even a modicum of faith in the integrity of the military leadership or the SCOTUS, then our entire system of government, indeed our society, is worthless. Remember, "I was just following orders" was insufficient protection at Nuremberg, and one can only assume that even with some of his recent plants, the JCOS is privately not happy with how the DoD is being mishandled.
"What will the military do?" Whether or not this country (the world?) survives this onslaught rides on the answer to this question IMHO. Absent honorable leadership - Trump fired them - it is up to the collective and individual acts of service men and women to save this country. SCOTUS and Congress are sleeper cells in either Trump or Putin's grab bag, with a few exceptions. This includes both Democrats and Republicans. It's not about whether or not senators or members of the House of Representatives have a spine. They are complicit. Like Wolverine, their entire skeletal system is infused with a foreign substance; in their case, it looks like gold or the promise of power? or a promise of exemption from the fate of us minions on the bottom rung of the ladder? Our military and intelligence operatives, both enlisted and retired, have the training to say, "Not on my watch." If those who swore an oath to defend this country wake up to their power and ally with The People, we will win this war.
So far, the courts have muted or put a hold on the most flagrant constitutional abuses. As I have said before--perhaps whistling through a graveyard--the Birthright case should be the deciding factor, since it will be the most obvious tRump idiocy and probably the one most appealing to MAGA. Should SCOTUS rule correctly, Rump will be left with a painful choice: accept the ruling while whining about those "mean, nasty" judges, or openly defy the ruling and insist on his administration proceeding to deport citizens.
No need at this time to discuss the implications of either, other than hopefully, he will be backed into an embarrassing corner and made to look "ridolous." And like Woltz, tRump can't afford to be made to look "ridolous."
I hope not, too. But this regime is backing the proverbial rat into a corner. I just remember Schumer racing out of his role of being a "good guy," a strong pro-democracy leader within the Democratic party, only to deliver a gut punch to anyone expecting a "WIN" against tRump's assault on us. Schumer did this at a time when the impact of his actions would be the most demoralizing to people opposed to DJT's fiscal demands. My active imagination tells me this was not accidental. He's part of the problem. ... and, to tear a note out of the history books, the lesson from the 1989 Tiananmen Square massacre was, if the Chinese military had refused to fire upon students, China would be a very different country today. We could very easily be marching towards the American version of this tragic event. Individually and collectively, we need to expect the unexpected, if that's at all possible. Hope for the best and plan for the worst. Pessimistic and cynical, but I think it's realistic given where we are.
You are right. I'd read that it did but just checked and you are right. Theoretically, a president could attempt to use the Act to create a state of emergency, deploy troops to polling stations, or suppress voting under the guise of quelling “insurrection.” Such actions would face significant legal challenges, as voting is a protected constitutional right under the First, Fourteenth, and Fifteenth Amendments. Courts could intervene, as seen in Sterling v. Constantin (1932), which affirmed judicial oversight of military actions.
MIke Flynn wanted to do this in 2016. The judiciary is usually too slow and he is replacing anyone in the military who won't obey. General Milley was a roadblock in 2016. So it will be interesting if they try. They have discussed it.
You're right about the judiciary usually being slow, but they (all federal levels) have acted at warp speed since January 20. I suspect that if the Act were invoked (a highly unlikely scenario), SCOTUS would take immediate cert. And would rule against it, 7-2. (If tRump issued an EO making pi=3.1, Thomas and Alito would stand behind him.)
No surprise that tRump is cashing in bigtime on his presidency, this time with a totally made-up "currency." The real question is: when will he decide to cash out, leaving the "investors" holding worthless property (anybody remember tRump University? tRump watches? etc. ad infinitum)

Good article in USA Today about the D's finally beginning to make some noise about tRump's blatant crypto currency corruption.

What ever the hell is crypto anyway? Does it even exist. What do you buy it with?
Trump was trying to get into this a few years ago. That should be a warning to anyone that it’s a giant fraud, just sad shares in Truth Social.
Who’s going to want that when rump is no longer around. It seems to have a short shelf life benefitting only one or two people.
How do you buy thin air anyway.
