Jeffries comment about god is so disgusting! We need a strong leader ON EARTH NOW! Jeffries and Schumer constantly fail us. Such weak leadership has allowed Trump and minions to hurdle towards fascism, with many Democrats supporting his evil nominees. Even as a minority, Dems could use Senate rules and resist, filibuster, and make is difficult and slow down the process. IF they would organize, act in solidarity with some strong leadership.

It’s pathetic and shameful that Dems didn’t organize and plan for this months ago. They knew what Project 2025 said and what Trump’s intentions were. They knew the race was close and he might win. YET THEY DID NO ORGANIZING AND HAVE NO EFFECTIVE LEADERSHIP! And we are doomed without it.

Jeffries’ 10 point plan and Schumer’s Stop the Steal are pathetic. They should resign and be replaced AOC and Sen. Schatz. Jeffries can pastor some sheep who like meaningless platitudes and Schumer can retire and sleep in a hammock on the beach.

Mr Jeffries- Sure, a cool head usually prevails, but remember Biden did ‘NOTHING’ about Trump for four straight years, and you see where this strategy got us. Doing ‘NOTHING’ makes us look weak.

So weak in fact, that a Felon who:

* Lied to his country about a deadly global pandemic.

* lied to his country about a stolen election.

* Tried to steal nuclear intelligence, blueprints of military bases, US military training maneuvers and a host of other high-level national defense documents found hidden in cardboard boxes in his bathroom and a coat closet within his resort.

STILL managed to take back the WhiteHouse.

We need a strategy!

Just taking the moral high ground is not enough.

Praying is not enough. Clearly.

If you want to wrestle this country back from this monster, the party needs to start doing something… NOW.

Yes!! Dems are so weak. As an atheist, I can’t believe they believe god is going to do anything…this god who was on the throne during the holocaust, famines, wars and horrors since humans began, etc. Religion is truly opium for the masses. Such comments are severe dereliction of duties!

I think Jeffries is trying to be like President Obama--calm and collected. But I find myself screaming at the TV watching him! It's way past time being calm and collected! We are IN a coup! It's not that they're attempting a coup! THIS IS IT! Our "leaders" are still in la la land! Schumer looks like an old grandfather shaking his fist at the kids who were on his lawn. They still think they are playing with people who have a full deck, who have some morals, who actually care about the rule of law. The Trump regime is literally destroying America, getting stronger and stronger and we're crossing our fingers and hope we can win the midterms. My God. What's going to happen when judges tell Trump he can't do something? HE IS GOING TO DO IT ANYWAY! And nobody is going to stop him because he controls everything now. Maybe we should start our own Tea Party! Taking suggestions for names....

The group Indivisible has told them what they can do to fight and slow down the sprint to fascism. Instead, they flounder while many Dems help by voting for their nominees. Only Sen. Schatz seems to have a spine.

I saw a friend who is on Jeffrie’s staff this weekend and asked what the hell with the inaction, people are furious, where is the damn leadership and fight? The response was we have to wait to take back the house in the midterms, then it will be Trump v Jeffries. I was stunned, the midterms? Seriously?

Democratic leaders are so out-of-touch it is maddening. Jeffries is already waiting for the speakers gavel in two years, that seems to be his strategy….wait it out until he can grab more power. Outrageous but not surprising given DC politicians.

Julie's CNN appearance powerfully exposed the dangers of withholding federal grants and aid. Yet her forceful stand highlights a glaring void - Democratic and anti-MAGA leaders nationwide remain oddly silent while Trump advances his agenda through calculated media stunts.

Where are the coordinated responses? Our cities and states depend on federal funding for healthcare, veterans' services, education, and infrastructure. We need Democratic and civic leaders staging press events at threatened hospitals, schools, and VA centers. While Trump, Abbott, and Reynolds orchestrate border photo-ops for maximum impact, Democrats fail to showcase how their policies protect vital community services.

The opposition's media strategy succeeds through aggressive visibility and emotional resonance. Democrats must learn from these tactics - not to mimic them, but to effectively communicate how their policies serve Americans. Every threatened grant, every at-risk program represents an opportunity to demonstrate leadership and connect with voters."

If any of the candidates for DNC leader can lead, they would be speaking out on this, the Musk salute, illegal firings, etc.

While Jeffries skillfully articulates Democratic positions, his leadership style often prioritizes measured responses over bold action. His cautious approach to Republican extremism, though diplomatically sound, may be insufficient for today's political climate. Democrats need more than well-crafted statements - they need strategic confrontation backed by decisive action."

As an atheist i have to point out the lunacy of counting on the supernatural diety who presumably gave us 8 years of trump, to still be around after him to help fix everything. Makes as much sense as Evangelist beliefs that god sent trump to us (while still trying to explain how the most despicable person in the world is god's messenger).

I read your great comment after posting mine “as an atheist” stating a similar observation. Was so offended to read god is on throne…this god who is so weak or evil to allow holocausts, famines, wars, floods, hurricanes, fires, etc. and like you, I write god in lower case. Religion is an opioid. MAGA is a religion.

It would appear that the Dem's view of god is an entity that will save us in the long long run and we don't have to do much other than keep the faith, while the Repub's god is telling them to arm themselves and fight as hard as they can for their principles. I agree that it is all nonsense but when people believe, using their beliefs is an incredibly powerful tool.

Ok I'm in love. I like Hakeem Jeffries and I am acquainted with the Senator. Decent People both of them -here comes the but- if they don't switch gears right now they should get the hell out of the way.

I sometimes wish we had the UK system of "opposition" so the job these people have would be clear at least. There In the UK, it doesn't matter what the government is doing, the opposition's job is to question it, and even if it's something nice like COVID-19 measures, still probe for why it couldn't be done better. Do it every week, same, until you are in power.

Even if Trump's ideas were the greatest thing and people loved them - which they don't, it makes no sense to allow them to go unchallenged - there are consequences to everything and the only way Democrats win is when the consequences to the decisions (immigrant round up = families torn apart, economy disrupted). They'll never win being happy.

Tim Snyder suggested exactly that. There is nothing to stop Dems from forming a loyal opposition cabinet to keep R's visible and point out problems.

1} theDems don't have a case about the border or DEI,2} they have a long term deal with Trump. just cool it.

What are you talking about? Biden didn’t terminate the border bill last year that would’ve fixed everything. TRUMP DID! In fact, it would’ve passed the house and the Senate. It was the first border bill we’ve had since the 1950s. The Republicans would get everything they wanted. Ukraine and Israel funding, was removed from the bill, and Trump still insisted that Johnson not even bring it to the floor for a vote. And please note that Ukraine and Israel both got the funding that you guys have been using as an excuse as to why the bill wasn’t put up for a vote. Trump doesn’t care about the border.

If he cared about the border, he wouldn’t have intervened with an unprecedented level of corruption to block it, and the Bill would’ve been far less costly than what he’s doing now.

It’s hard to tell if Trump Supporters care about the border, or just get a kick out of watching other people suffer over sick and unnecessary chaos.

Biden didn’t pay much attention to the border for most of his presidency while Trump and MAGA ranted about it constantly. Dems should have countered every day instead of waiting to promote the bill late in presidency and fail to communicate what they were doing. Biden totally failed us.

The point about culture wars, is that they are strictly meta-conflicts... The GOP is great at them, and the GOP base falls for them, because of whatever... no time to discuss it... The GOP is not interested in solving the problem, never was. The idea is to hang something there that everybody can fight about ad infinitum. Just like the trans-identity issue, which is medically speaking a real issue and raises lots of questions... The GOP is not interested in a solution, and as long as some on the left keep referring to it the way they do, the GOP will keep referring to it without offering, say, a solution, like invite the Democrats to discuss exactly why the number of girls wanting to become boys has literally skyrocketed, is it a natural evolution of our society, etc... Mind you, if you dare suggest that to some on the left, you get assaulted (I am sorry to say, but that is a fact), then ostracized, etc... So: migrants are the same, DEI is the same... Trump won on such nonsense, because the electorate is not savvy about it. And the MSM fell into the trap.

Expand full comment

Sorry that is not true.

Dems don't have a problem with deporting real illegal imigrant criminals.

Deporting millions will devastate our economy from the loss of taxes to the loss of food workers.

DEI can be more regulated to ensure there is no discrimination against qualified candidates while letting all the other parts of it, such as having diversified viewpoints and inputs for knotty problems, continue

Las year 270k were deported (ca. 739/day) , it was hardly mentioned. This year 80 or so get flown to Colombia and the media were all over it... because Trump made sure he would manipulate the situation to make it visible.

The hypocrisy of Maga crying about DEI, calling black and female pilots with a high level of training “unfit”…

Yet supports an alcoholic, wife abusing, serial cheater, who impregnates his coworkers, an immoral pathological liar, who can’t stay sober long enough to work… with zero relevant experience… and COMPLETELY UNFIT… to be responsible for maintaining a nuclear arsenal and the safety and well-being of millions of Americans in their homeland.

Truly a despicable and sociopathic level of maga psychosis.

I, too, am disappointed in Jeffries. I listen to his weekly press briefings, he sounds like someone commenting on a snail race.

Have any of the dems got the message: TV and the Internet are VISUAL! You have to deliver excitement, emotion, at best real anger, the one that comes from your gut. Schumer looks like your granddad explaining how to use a rotary phone, Tim Kaine with his specs on his forehead, a worn out office worker about to retire...

And this is the troop that is going to "win the midterms?" I have some really bad news for Democrats. The GOP is already running for the midterms. ANd they know how to do it, with brash bullshit.

The Dems are like tenured art profs who know that some of their students are much better than them and so the old chair-polishers are doing their best to suffocate the talent. Unleash AOC, and Jasmine Crockett, and Slotkin. ANd Sanders. And anyone who understands online profilicity.
