A big dilemma we have is how many Americans actually understand that all these executive bills Trump signs are meaningless? We could all hold up a piece of paper with our names on it and it carries no weight. Neither do his. People need a better understanding of how government works. Just today he did an order asking drug companies to pretty please lower drug prices. If Trump was interested in more then show he’d be insisting Congress do something about drug prices. These silly executive orders mean nothing and I have to wonder how many Americans don’t get that and are buying into them meaning he’s doing something when he’s not.

I have to respectfully disagree about EO's meaning nothing. MANY of tRump's carry no legal weight and will eventually be overturned in the courts, but others will stand. Do you remember a president called Obama who once said, in response to a recalcitrant (i.e. R) Congress, "I have a pen and a phone."? Every president issues EOs; Rump has made a farce of it, but some will probably stick to the wall (i.e. the courts) he's throwing all of them at.

Rump's prescription drug EO is, unfortunately, a master stroke at public relations, plus a finger in the eye to Biden. True, in itself it won't lower any prices, and it is questionable whether HHS has the legal authority to mandate drug prices for Medicare/Medicaid. But the 30-day time limit is stark contrast to the Biden bill that gives the government the right to "negotiate" lower prices on a select few drugs, but won't even take effect for years.

A potential downside is that this may force Congress to take action on sweeping drug pricing legislation. If it becomes part of the reconciliation budget bill (requiring only a simple majority) that will force D's to either vote it down, or give Rump a huge win. Do you want to be the one to explain to a family why they still have to pay 10 times what those in Europe pay for the same drug?

Fuck those guys. Everyone knew Trump was a disaster. Some people thought they were too rich to be hurt.

By "everyone," you mean the majority that voted for him? And believe me, he was not elected by the "rich."

Progressives better start coming up with excuses why the modest Biden drug price reductions were so ridiculously timed that they have not yet taken effect, while tRumps across-the-board 30-80% slashing is supposed to happen within 6 months.

This may put the D's in a serious quandary. If the drug price reductions are incorporated in the "big, beautiful" tax bill, and that provision is not redacted by the Senate parliamentarian as per the Byrd Rule for reconciliation bills, the D's will have a very tough time explaining why they voted against lower drug prices. and Chuckie's "things would have been worse" argument didn't fly the first time and won't again.

Three kinds of people voted for Trump: Ignorant people who don't have a fucking clue, very wealthy people who only care about their taxes and weird-ass pieces of shit with apocalyptic fantasies of remaking the world. Most of his voters fall into more than one camp.

Not one decent, informed person voted for him. Just shitty people.

Well, "you" (meaning progressives) are going to have to depend on at least some of those 77,302,580 people if there is going to be any chance of regaining at least one house of Congress in 2026.

Oh, and I am TRULY impressed with your vocabulary! Gosh, I didn't realize that women were so liberated that they actually know those words.

(There's that need for a Sarcasm font again)

I did not use any unusual words, so I am not sure what the fuck you are even talking about.

And that makes two of us.

Sorry for your ignorance. I suppose I didn't use enough little words.

Hey, impress me some more with how liberated you are! Soon, you'll sound just like Middle School boys!

Are you drunk or just not very smart? It's very weird that out of nowhere you've brought up "liberation," which was in no way being discussed. That must be on your mind. And that's weird!

You poor little man. You have no posts or followers. (Well, you have 5, which is essentially none.) You probably never will.

Did you come here to attack women who are successful writers because you are sad that you will never be able to attract a woman? Men who fixate on something like women's "liberation" instead of the subject at hand invariably have some kind of chip on their shoulders about women.

You're going to be single for a long, long time, dude.

And once again, tRump "wins" by backing down. Tariffs now lowered to 30% for an "initial 90-day period." He undoubtedly planned this all along, knowing that China would never accept anything close to 145%. Given the low cost of Chinese products, the tariff increase of 20% (assuming that the 30 replaces the previous 10 baseline) will hardly register.

For all you $ billionaires on this site, your tax cut is safe...for the moment!

The shit is about to hit the fan. The shortages will make COVID look like a picnic by comparison. And Donnie and his toadies won't be able to bullshit their way out of it.

I spent the day with my family and I felt I was screaming at the wind when I said pay attention. Buy the kids school clothes and supplies now. Shop for their Christmas gifts while you can find them. This is serious. Please pay attention. They aren’t MAGAS. They voted for Kamala but they aren’t awake to what we’re facing. This is our dilemma. We have to find a way to help those who don’t pay attention to what is going on and are so caught up in their everyday mundane lives they don’t face facts. I don’t know how that happens. I imagine they thought there she goes again off on some radical tangent that will never happen. If only that were true.

The following is why this site needs a Sarcasm font:

Well, Julie, remember those 30 dolls you had as a little girl? Well, that was what ruined you! Turned you into a greedy progressive thinking you are entitled to {GASP!} unlimited freedom and rights! Fom now on, little girsls will make do with 2 or 3 dolls, teaching them to accept second or third best without complaining. Perfect training to become a future MAGA tradwife.
