Damn, I'm happy that you and your family are back safe. I know a lot of people considering becoming ex-pats. They need to consider that their American citizenship isn't worth much right now. They should consider that in their decision. I'll be sharing this video. Michelle is right: The entire planet is in danger. All because of a man-baby with a 12 year old mental age. (Apologies to your son.😂) This is total FUBAR!!
So Trump KNEW the Iran attack was coming and that we would be involved in it and instead of preparing our military for war, he had them parading around DC? Mmmmk
There may be lots of reasons to be opposed to that parade, but really..." prepare for war"?
As for the parade itself, it was surprisingly low-key. Each army division was represented by a small contingent, perhaps 100 or 200, marching in what seemed to be a relaxed mode. There were tanks and armored vehicles, but they were staggered in non-threatening (i.e., not attack) formations representing the equipment used by each division. And, their operators and crew were smiling and waving to the crowd!
“President Trump declared in a social media post Tuesday, ‘We now have complete and total control of the skies over Iran’.”
I didnt say we are at war. Our president said we are at war otherwise “we” wouldn’t have control of the skies over Iran.
6600 military personnel busy with a parade wont determine the outcome of this conflict. It just seems like a waste of time and resources when we should be focusing on a middle east thats literally on fire.
I understand your viewpoint, but I respectfully say that, particularly since the situation with Iran erupted long after the parade had been planned, canceling it would have made it seem that physical intervention was virtually imminent.
If anything, in my opinion, the parade was nothing like what tRump probably imagined and hoped for. No thousands of strutting troops in full battle armor, no row after row of armored vehicles with closed turrets and battle flags, no ballistic missiles. It was, after all, the 250th birthday of the US Army, and it deserved appropriate recognition.
And I hope that the US never gets to the "guns or butter" stage where our $3 trillion budget can't afford $45 million for such benign acknowledgement of what has been the most important defender of all the freedoms that the current Commander in Chief wants to take away.
Another reason I don't do videos: In addition to bad hearing, my eyesight is not so hot either. When I first saw your partner, I thought her hat read MCPGA (Make Central Park Green Again)!
Your story is so important. I hope this gets picked up on a national syndicate. The consulates response is unacceptable......and it's not America first leaving people stranded. Glad you and your family made it back safely.
Julie, be grateful that you're a political analyst and not a hard news reporter. Otherwise, Tom Moran--who incidentally believes that Israel is engaging in ethnic cleansing in Gaza--would be sending you to Tehran/
Well Trump's America First means Trump First and maybe Stephen Miller First. Why are all those Republicans in Israel.
The US is closing down more and more consulates and embassies around the world. Any American in an African country is going to have a hard time finding support.
I can believe the US government did not help people get out, because this is a Kakistocracy, and is not helping anyone with anything.
It is so lucky that your cousin warned you, or you would have been in even more shock than if you had not heard about it. You would be able to process this having to get out at the sirens.
It is interesting that your husband was afraid to go, because not growing up going to Israel, he had not normalized war as a background to life. You might have normalized it. My friend has gone back and forth but a lot of my Jewish friends are afraid to go to Israel now.
When I was growing up Bar and Bat Mitvah's were so much simpler. A party with pizzas, dancing and not even dressing up that much. My friend had her daughters both do Bat Mitvah's and a Quinceañera. She is also not religious, but it is about culture and tradition.

Not to worry. Her son is 13! Although at 3 he was probably more mature than the current White House infestor.

So glad you, your immediate family, parents and sibling, made it back together in the same units you arrived with.

Glad you're back, Julie! Horrific situation made worse by the embassy's inaction. I feel sorry for your son going through such a scary time. 💙
So, SOOOOO happy to see your gorgeous face home, Julie 🧡💙🧡
Much respect🙏🏻🥰
So happy you & your family are safe & sound.

So sorry about the timing for your family.
