What more can we do to get through to Dems? When even Adam Kenzinger had to plead with Dems to message and they still won't, what more can we do? When the DNC sits on $$ millions and all they do is send out solicitation letters instead of hammering home on all platforms how American values are being corrupted, what more can we do? When every day DT gives Dems all the fodder they need to build back their base, but they won't, what more can we do? I'm at a loss.

I have a Day One idea for the next Democratic president: Freeze the current ATF background check process and prevent the sale or transfer of any firearm subject to that background check process until the ATF completes a full review of its processes and procedures and proves that they can stop a violent person from obtaining a firearm.

At the same time, put up a ticker that shows how much firearms manufacturers are losing in sales per day that the freeze is in effect. As for the second amendment, the freeze is not preventing any existing gun owner from keeping or bearing arms, they just can’t buy or sell any guns (amendment doesn’t say there is a right to “buy or sell”, just “keep or bear”)

I’m sure the current Supreme Court and many lower federal courts would strike it down, but by doing so the Democrats would show that they have some balls and highlight the business interests behind “gun rights”.

Obama should have done something like this after Sandy Hook. But its a pipe dream because Dems don’t have the spine to play hardball…

With, or without a spine, D leaders can still have some minimally invasive spine surgeries. These would be precise surgeries to repair weak messages and infected immune systems incapable of understanding what people know and care about.

One response to the lift of the cap on drug prices- (why couldn't our D leaders and their staff come up with something like this?)

Trump will make seniors choose between paying drug bills and buying bread and eggs. Trump has removed Medicare-negotiated price caps which were in place to protect seniors from skyrocketing drug costs. Removing these caps means millions of older Americans face unlimited price increases by pharmaceutical companies. Trump, within 6 days, in office is making life harder for our seniors, forcing impossible choices between vital medications and necessities.

Grow a spine. And the DNC and allies need some spine, too and proper physical therapy because Trump's messaging and comms teams are running circles about D's

Excellent, thank you. Schumer has always been big on talk and weak on action; still looking for compromise. We need a leader like Henry V, who by the way, sounds like the model for the Klingon Empire on Star Trek.

Dems are totally reactive here. They need to create a proactive platform that every day projects where the R's are taking us and has laugh-out-loud ridicule of trump. They have no means of reaching masses of people. Podcasts and appearances on MSNBC and CNN are not enough.

This New Yorker is appalled by the weakness of Schumer and Jeffries. And our other Senator, Gillibrand, voted for John Ratcliffe. Gonna give them each a call, but if they haven't woken up by now I doubt they ever will.

I count Jamie Raskin, Eric Swalwell, AOC and Jasmine Crockett as Dems with a spine. The rest of the elected Democrats are an utter disgrace with

their silence and lack of fight against the daily assault on our Democracy.

I would add Chris Murphy of Conn. in the plus column.

Thank you for this post. I am beyond disappointed and dumbfounded by the Democratic politicians' lack of responses to what is happening to our country.

On Saturday, upon learning that 7 Democratic Senators voted to confirm Kristi Noem, I wrote to Senator Andy Kim to voice my extreme disappointment and disgust after I discovered that one of my senators voted to confirm her.

Julie, thank you for expressing clearly what is happening right now. Where are the Dems? I can't believe that Senator Andy Kim voted to approve Kristi Noem, and I wrote to him and told him so. Our reps have to continue to deny, deny, deny the MAGAs any clearance on their efforts to bulldoze us. It's US or them!!!
