I should've added to my earlier comment... by extension, Canada is in big trouble, too.

As literally insane as the Republican party is (trying to claw back money from the IRS that is generating billions in unpaid taxes while cutting Medicaid and SNAP to pay for tax cuts for the wealthy) most R's would not be supporting Putin on their own. This is the work of one person, Donald Dump. It is not America that is ending Pax Americana it is one person who has captured the republican fascist-loving voters and thus the republican legislators.

Now, no country will ever trust the US. Japan, S. Korea, Australia, Taiwan and others can't rely on us and must form a pact of their own. The EU must assume we will either support a Russian invasion or put sanctions on them or do nothing. Same goes for trade. What country would think we would honor any trade agreement.

Dump is doing whatever Putin tells him to do. What do you think those phone calls are for - discussing the weather in Siberia? Putin is orchestrating every step and every utterance from dump.

The Rubio story is worth a case study in mind control by itself. He will go down in history as one of the biggest hypocrites and possibly one of dump's worst henchmen - the Heinrich Himmler of donald dump.

"tRump doesn't speak for us...". Well, neither do the two Dem slugs who posture on SM, then take the "do nothing and let tRump hang himself" line --- They would be Schumer and Jeffreys, the Useless Bros.

Over the weekend, I spent a lot of time thinking about the Democratic failures that got us here. Republicans telegraphed their evil plans for the past 40 years and the Dems settled for business as usual and "reaching across the aisle". Robert Mueller failing to indict and punting to Congress. Garland proceeding at a snail's pace out of an abundance of caution. Biden not starting his presidency in 2021 with a succession plan in place for 2024. The Dems truly awful way of messaging their incredible accomplishments 2021-2024. Biden NOT using the power SCOTUS afforded all presidents to wield unlimited power -- he had until January 19th to arrest Trump and everyone involved with Project 2025 for planning a 900 page published coup. Total lack of willful Federal action against voter suppression and gerrymandered districts. Great leaders like Al Franken stepping down for what the GOP would consider a quarter day news cycle scandal. Dems engaging in insider trading and bribery which hands "both sides are just as bad" messaging to the right. All we have now is Schumer talking about "arousal" and some woman politician last week sheepishly saying "I never swear" when espousing her gosh darn upset at what's happening in DC. Oh yeah, and Jefferies won't give up his never ending Obama as a Key and Peele sketch, saying absolutely nothing in interview after interview with enough hand gestures to guide a plane into the gate.

Someone needs to remind tRump that Ukraine is not South Vietnam; the US doesn't get to pick the leader.

As for Rubio, he has shown that he is totally incompetent to serve as Secretary of State. It's not surprising that he will follow the tRump Line, but he could at least have phrased his lavish praise in quasi-diplomatic terms.

As for the so-called Democratic legislative leaders, didn't the party learn anything from sticking with a tired, outdated, incompetent leader last year?

Where the hell are the Democratic Party leaders? I am disgusted by the lack of any forceful response. Silence from Obamas, Clintons and “for the people” Kamala Harris has left the stage to sign a book deal. That has left us with Schumer and Jeffries who are completely over-matched. I am proud of our fighters (Murphy, AOC, Crockett and a few more) but without a leader we are flailing with no strategy or force. It is a stunning betrayal of their moral responsibility as Trump destroys our democracy. The party should be blown-up for new leadership.

This is an excellent summary of the horrifying display of the administration's arrogance and ignorance. We need everyone who loves this country and still has a conscience to speak up loudly, protest, and let our representatives know that we expect them to defend our nation.

Trump, doing Putin’s bidding, is doing everything in his power attempting to oust Zelenskyy.

Why? Because Zelenskyy won’t fall for Putin’s lies and Putin wants someone in power in Ukraine that will succumb to Putin/Russia.

After reading Reich’s substack, if Ukraine were to replace their president, my God, I hope it’s a woman!

Did you see today’s story from CNN?

Excerpt:

Top US officials are piling heat on Volodymyr Zelensky, suggesting he may need to relinquish power after his disastrous Oval Office meeting

It's true that "we are governed by craven little men." I think that the consequences of trump's shifting alliance to Russia will be harsh and long-lasting. Britain exited the EU and the consequences of that decision have yet to be tallied. Smashing our democratic norms on so many levels (Hegseth orders stop of cyberoperations against Russia! Really???!!!) (Social Security is a Ponzi scheme????) leaves us so incredibly vulnerable that I fear a 9/11 type attack. This is all so insane.
