Pausing first for a moment to remember all the men and women who died on behalf of this country. I was in Normandy last year with my son and looked up at the cliffs that so many men died scaling on D-Day. Once you see that, and the American cemetery nearby, you never think of Memorial Day as just the start of summer again.

To the people reading this newsletter who are not American, I hope, in the future, that we can regain your trust as an ally in the fight to protect democracy.

Stop Sanewashing Trump

I don’t care if you want to talk about Joe Biden.

I want to talk about Donald Trump.

Donald Trump, who spent an address to West Point graduates talking about “trophy wives.”

Donald Trump, who tried to convince the president of a sovereign African nation that he, Donald Trump, knows better than the president of said nation about an imaginary “white genocide” on its soil that is literally nonexistent. The same Donald Trump who used footage from a different African country as “evidence” to prove that this genocide was taking place, then later admitted that he didn’t know whether what he was saying is accurate.

Donald Trump, who thought former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley was responsible for security at the United States Capitol on January 6th, 2021 and appeared to confuse her with former Democratic Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi.

Donald Trump, who is convinced he “recently” gave a speech at Ohio State University, where he has never spoken.

Donald Trump, who believes that, “Our army manned the air, it rammed the ramparts, it took over the airports, it did everything it had to do, and at Fort McHenry, under the rockets’ red glare, it had nothing but victory” to win the Revolutionary War in the 18th century.

Donald Trump, who is addled enough to think that he and former San Francisco Mayor Willie Brown were in a helicopter crash landing together that never happened.

Donald Trump, who believes that Taylor Swift stopped being “hot” as soon as he said that he hates her.

Donald Trump, who thinks that Hannibal Lecter was a real person before his tragic death.

Donald Trump, who repeatedly muses about whether it is better to be electrocuted on a boat or eaten by a shark.

Donald Trump, who consistently thought that Barak Obama was president while Joe Biden was in the White House.

Where’s the media clamor for Trump, the oldest person ever elected president, to release his cognitive test? Not the “Person. Woman. Man. Camera. TV” nonsense that Trump claims he aced. A real one.

Where’s the media clamor for Trump, one of the heaviest people ever elected president, to release his physical test? Not a memo from a flunky that shows him weighing in at 224 and standing at 6’3 without lifts but a real physical. Hell, put him on a scale in front of the cameras. Then I’ll believe that he weighs 224 pounds.

Trump expects us to believe him and not our lying eyes about everything. And why wouldn’t he? Corporate media consistently allows him to get away with it.

It’s not like Trump has a family history of dementia, right, Jake Tapper?

These so-called journalists are so busy talking about his predecessor that they are letting the biggest scandal in modern history go unreported. A man with aggressive dementia has no one around him who will say no to him. And he has the nuclear codes.

Nothing to see here. Let’s talk about Biden’s cognitive decline instead.

Where are the countless CNN segments about the fact that more than 3,000 medical and mental health professionals have signed a petition stating that:

From our years of training and experience, we are convinced that, while a definitive diagnosis would require further testing, Donald Trump is showing unmistakable signs strongly suggesting dementia, based on his public behavior and informant reports that show progressive deterioration in memory, thinking, ability to use language, behavior, and both gross and fine motor skills.

If Democrats want to get the narrative back from “crazy old Biden” and onto the man who now controls the nuclear codes, here’s how to do it:
