“Signal Fires” is a blistering protest anthem forged in the roots of folk, blues, and soul—and sharpened by betrayal at the highest levels of power.

This song rips the veil off a devastating act of recklessness inside the Trump White House, where classified military plans were leaked over unsecured chats for ego and clout.

Better make that Five Alarm:

It seems that the editor of the Atlantic somehow got included in the high-security email distribution that the DOD sent out prior to the attack on the Houthis. When asked about it, tRump admitted he didn't know about it, but said "Oh the Atlantic, that's not much of a magazine."

So apparently it's acceptable to send top-secret military information to magazine editors as long as their publication isn't popular.

Great framing of the gargantuan absurdity of relying on Musk to “ do the right thing “ when his self

interest has driven all his business efforts for at least 20 years. A bizzarro world villain snorting ketamine is not the “best choice” when our national security is on the line!

Chinese "war-planning" briefing didn't happen, as the NYT/WSJ reporting short-circuited the whole operation:

Or else...it was never "planned," but a leak orchestrated to make the NYT look misinformed.

Perhaps just another "The sky is falling!" red herrings?

Thanks for the great report. Now you can see why the widely predicted rift between Trump and Musk may never eventuate. Trump is dependent on Musk’s direct line to Putin. Since Musk is smarter than Trump (by orders of magnitude) his communications with Putin are probably sane and valuable. He can confidently tell Trump what Putin wants. As for his relationship with China, well, there’s one good thing coming out of all this: we’re less likely to escalate into WWIII with either super power. Take solace in that, while we slip into dystopia.

PS: every day I get more depressed about the Biden administration’s legacy.

Not a drill is the flip side of a sense of urgency, which is missing among too many leaders. I appreciate your early reader's comments: M Gazelle asks how we prepare? I answer do something, work with existing groups, createa group, act local, and more. Kenneth makes a valid point that Trump will blame Biden for any and everything that will go wrong. And Trump is good at passing the blame.

Now to Julie's writing. I wrote and called my federal delegation last night (voice mail if available). I asked them to confirm they are both anti-Chinese and anti-Russian Communism. I asked them to speak out against Musk

How do we prepare for the coming onslaught of this administration?

If I understand what you wrote correctly, it was the Beloved Biden who established Musk's invincibility. Makes it really easy for tRump to just sit back and enjoy the profitable results. And if the situation should ever manage to offend the sensibilities of the MAGA set, tRump need merely blame--wait for it!!--Sleepy Joe!

And then nationalize whichever Musk companies he wants to control.
