The Wall Street Journal just published a bombshell story about a birthday card Trump sent Jeffrey Epstein in 2003 for the pedophile’s 50th birthday party.
In it, he doodled a picture of a naked woman (or is it girl?) and a signature — “Donald” — that mimicked her pubic hair. Trump’s note to Epstein read:
Voice Over: There must be more to life than having everything.
Donald: Yes, there is, but I won’t tell you what it is.
Jeffrey: Nor will I, since I also know what it is.
Donald: We have certain things in common, Jeffrey.
Jeffrey: Yes, we do, come to think of it.
Donald: Enigmas never age, have you noticed that?
Jeffrey: As a matter of fact, it was clear to me the last time I saw you.
Trump: A pal is a wonderful thing. Happy Birthday — and may every day be another wonderful secret.
“May every day be a wonderful secret.”
Let’s put that phrase in context. In 2003, Trump was divorced from his second wife, Marla Maples. He was dating Melania Knauss but they were not yet married. Just several months earlier, Trump told New York Magazine that, “I’ve known Jeff for fifteen years. Terrific guy. He’s a lot of fun to be with. It is even said that he likes beautiful women as much as I do, and many of them are on the younger side. No doubt about it — Jeffrey enjoys his social life.”
No one ambushed Trump to get this quote. This was for a profile of Epstein and Trump was only to happy to dish.
What was the “wonderful secret” that he could possibly have in common with a pedophile? A decade earlier, after his first divorce, Trump was hanging around New York City with pedophile John Casablancas, the former head of the Elite Modeling Agency, who was notorious for sleeping with his underage models and for plying them with drugs and alcohol around his friends. When Trump was not busy partying with Casablancas and the girls, some as young as fourteen, in New York, he partied with Epstein down in Palm Beach.
Whatever happened at those parties must have been “a wonderful secret.” Just don’t let anyone tell you that Trump was so afraid of his Slovenian girlfriend that the secret was that he cheated on her with adult women. As we have learned in the years since, infidelity has never exactly been a deal breaker for Melania — and her then-boyfriend probably knew that.
Trump, of course, has denied that he ever wrote the card and threatened to sue the Wall Street Journal, which is owned by Rupert Murdoch. “I never wrote a picture in my life. I don’t draw pictures of women,” he said. “It’s not my language. It’s not my words.”
(For the record, Trump has consistently doodled pictures with the same black Sharpie he used to draw this naked picture. They have fetched a pretty penny at auction.)
It will be interesting to see if Murdoch’s other media properties, including Fox News and the New York Post, cover this story without a MAGA bias, but I wouldn’t hold my breath. Don’t wait for Murdoch to fight Trump’s lawsuit either. If Trump does sue, Fox will write him a hefty check and probably fire editor-in-chief Emma Tucker for good measure. (Hey, if CBS News could dump Stephen Colbert because Trump wanted him gone, it stands to reason that Fox Corp will do whatever it takes to make up for honestly reporting out a story about the man who has sent Fox News ratings to record highs.)
One final thing: Alex Acosta, whom Trump appointed as his first Secretary of Labor in 2017, was the United States attorney who entered into a controversial non-prosecution agreement in 2008. The agreement stipulated that Acosta’s office “agreed to end its investigation of Epstein and to forgo federal prosecution in the Southern District of Florida of him, four named co-conspirators, and any potential co-conspirators.” It was filed in state court under seal.
The Department of Justice knows who those four named co-conspirators are and probably has a good idea of who the other potential co-conspirators are. Demand they release those files now, so that we know who else was in on this “wonderful secret.”
"Enigma" = anagram for "gamine", which means charming young girl.
These men are monsters.
Just now (Thursday night) : “President Trump called for the release of additional documents related to the investigation of convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein following the publication of an article in The Wall Street Journal about a letter bearing Trump’s name that was included in a 2003 birthday album for the disgraced financier.”
